Reporting to the School Executive Officer, the Administrative Assistant plays an integral part in the effective functioning of the school by providing a broad range of administrative support services for the School of Engineering. This includes:

  • Responding to enquiries and requests from staff, students and members of the public, answering or referring as appropriate.
  • Undertaking word processing, spreadsheet and database preparation and maintenance.
  • Providing support for the Deputy Head of School.
  • Assisting with the administration of teaching including the generation of course outlines, provision of class lists, and casual room bookings.
  • Liaising with Exams and course coordinators to manage the end of term exam submission process.
  • Acting as Committee Secretary for meetings as required.
  • Assisting with organising various School events such as the annual Discipline Prize Ceremonies.

This Fixed Term position is full time until December 2023 at a HEW4 Higher Education Level and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

About the Unit

The School of Engineering in one of the most research-intensive Schools within the University. The School consists of four discipline groupings: Civil and Environmental Engineering and Surveying; Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical, Computer Systems, Aerospace Systems, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. The School is home to a Priority research centre and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Enabling Eco-efficient Beneficiation of Minerals. It has strong links with industry through sponsored undergraduate students and research collaborations.
